The Panthers have signed safety Charles Godfrey to a five-year, $27.5 million extension, according to a source.
The contract guarantees Godfrey $12.4 million.

Vikings, Greenway Agree To Long-Term Deal
The Vikings have signed linebacker Chad Greenway to a new five-year contract.
Greenway, 28, is a former first-round draft pick.
"To make an NFL career work for you and be financially set is amazing," Greenway said.
The Vikings didn't disclose the terms, but a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter the deal is worth $40 million.
Cardinals, Taylor Agree To Terms
The Cardinals have agreed to terms with veteran running back Chester Taylor a one-year deal, according to a source.
Taylor was released by the Bears on Saturday.
Arizona found itself thin in the backfield this preseason after rookie second-round pick Ryan Williams was lost for the year with a torn patella tendon in his right knee.
Gurode Decides To Join Ravens
The Ravens have agreed to a one-year deal with former Cowboys Pro Bowl center Andre Gurode.
The contract could be worth as much as $3 million, according to sources.
The deal was announced Sunday and will become official when he passes a physical.
"We just got better as a team," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "To have a successful season, you have to have quality depth across the board. We just added great depth to the interior of our offensive line with Andre."
Meriweather Agrees To Deal With Bears
The Bears have agreed to terms on a contract with safety Brandon Meriweather.
The agreement is for a one-year deal.
The Patriots released the Pro Bowler on Saturday.
New England drafted Meriweather in the first round from Miami in 2007. He has 224 tackles and 12 interceptions in 64 career games, including 40 starts.
Packers, Sitton Agree To Extension
The Packers have reached an agreement on a contract extension with starting right guard Josh Sitton.
The former fourth-round pick was entering the final year of his rookie contract.
"It's a big weight off my shoulders," said Sitton, whose agent began negotiations with the Packers around the start of training camp.
"That was what we said from the beginning, that we wanted to get it done before the season. That way I didn't have to deal with it and I could just focus on playing football. That's what I do. I'm a football player."
Bengals, Leon Hall Sign $39M Extension
The Bengals have signed cornerback Leon Hall to a four-year, $39 million extension, according to sources.
It includes $14.1 million this season and will tie him to the franchise through the 2015 season.
Hall had his base salary this season increased to $5.1 million from $3 million and received a $9 million signing bonus.
